Moolap Primary School is excited to introduce Chromebooks for all Year 3 students in 2026 as part of our updated digital learning strategy. This rollout will continue across the coming years, gradually replacing iPads as the primary learning device for upper‑primary students. Currently, students from Years 4 to 6 have a 1:1 iPad program.
We have found chromebooks support a wide range of educational purposes, including developing essential typing skills, accessing online learning platforms, and completing written tasks that prepare students for future digital learning and assessment. Their keyboard‑based design makes them particularly suitable for the learning needs of students from Year 3 onwards.
iPads Are Still Used — But Differently
While Chromebooks will become the main device for Years 3–6, iPads will continue to be used in targeted ways across the school. These may include creative tasks, recording learning evidence, using specific educational apps, and supporting hands‑on or multimodal learning activities. Ipads are used to support and extend learning, though not often used every day during the Prep year.
No BYO Devices
To ensure consistency, equity, and reliable technical support, Moolap Primary School does not operate a BYO (Bring Your Own) Chromebook program. All devices are supplied and managed by the school. This ensures every student has access to the same tools, settings, and learning platforms, creating a smooth and secure digital learning environment.
