At the heart of our community spirit lies a commitment to respectfully work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for students.
Our school values positive relationships with our parents and community and believes that ongoing communication is extremely important, both between the school and home and the home and school. We encourage our parents and carers to use available avenues to connect with the school.
An outline of these methods is below:
✅ Compass: Compass is our main school communication portal. All official correspondence from the school will be sent to you via our Compass App. This includes excursion notes, major announcements, newsletters and reports. The school will provide families with log-in details.
✅ Phone Call: Directly between parents and staff. If calling the school during the day, teachers may be in class, but please leave a message and they will return your call as soon as possible.
✅ Face-to-Face: Setting up a formal meeting between parents and staff can be a very effective way to respond to questions or make formal plans for your child. Organised ahead of time, this will enable parents and staff to be prepared for the meeting. Teachers may also be available for a quick chat before or after school, though can be busy organising class for the day or heading off to a meeting after school.
✅ The Moolap Primary School Community Group Facebook Page: New parents to the school are encouraged to join the MCG Facebook Page. It is a closed page for the use of our community. Posts on the page are made by staff and a small number of parent moderators. Parents can also request to post information, such as the selling of second-hand uniforms or to ask a question to the community. Upcoming fundraising activities and canteen specials are also posted on the page.
✅ School newsletters: Our newsletter is published each fortnight on a Friday and is sent out to parents via Compass. This is a good method for catching up on events and for reading important announcements and reminders at the whole-school level.
✅ Class Dojo: The app can be a very useful tool for day-to-day communication between yourself and classroom teachers. It will be used by staff for classroom reminders (such as special events, celebrations and information about homework) and can be used by parents to ask questions and send information about their child. Teachers will provide access instructions to parents at the beginning of the school year.
