All P-6 students participate in an hour per week of Physical Education.
The Physical Education program encompasses an initial focus on the fundamental skills needed for all sports and games in an environment that encourages participation and teamwork. The curriculum places emphasis on the acquisition of a board range of movement concepts, so that students become competent and confident as they learn and apply different skills.
A strong part of the Moolap PS Phys Ed and whole-school curriculum is our House approach. Students are divided into four houses and various activities and events are held throughout the year in order to build healthy competition and team pride. Students receive House Tokens for following our school values. The house names, selected by the students, are based on land, sea and air animal names and expressed in local Wadawurrung Language:
Lelon: Red House. Lelon is Wadawurrung for lizard
Barnong: Green House. Barnong is Wadawurrung for possum
Perridak: Blue House. Perridak is Wadawurrung for platypus
Kuwarrk: Yellow House. Kuwarrk is Wadawurrung for kookaburra
An annual House Sports Day is held each year where all parents are encouraged to come along and support your child’s efforts.
Your child will be notified which house colour he/she has been allocated early in the school year. A red, yellow, green or blue T-shirt should be worn for House Sports events, according to the House to which your child is allotted.
