Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Moolap Primary School! It is my privilege to lead the Moolap PS community and I welcome you and your family to the school.

Moolap PS has a long and proud history of serving students and families to the East of Geelong with a high-quality education in a safe, friendly and inclusive school environment. Our school has a distinct rural feel but is situated only 10 minutes from the Geelong CBD. We currently have an enrolment of 225 students in a mix of Year Prep, 1-2, 3, 3-4, 4 and 5-6 classrooms. Our students and staff embody the school values of Respect, Responsibility, Safety and Integrity in their daily school activity. Our school aims for all students to experience success and take an active role in their learning.

Our staff are dedicated, professional and take pride in their work. We welcome parent involvement, communication and partnership in providing support to student learning and wellbeing. Our curriculum places strong emphasis on the foundations of literacy and numeracy, though fosters inquiry, problem solving and a connection with the local environment.

At MPS our students also take part in several specialist subjects throughout the school week: Music/ Drama, Visual Arts, Health and PE and Language. After a successful school year of learning about our local indigenous culture during 2019, the school introduced Indigenous Language during 2020. All students learn local Wadawurrung language as part of a rich cultural experience. A recent school improvement building program saw the introduction of a Digital Technologies/ STEM program for all students within a modern and exciting flexible learning space. All students in Years 3-6 take part in our 1:1 BYOD iPad program, which works to connect and engage students further in their learning.

I am more than happy to conduct a tour of the school for prospective Prep parents so you can gain a real feel for our facilities, programs and engaging school environment.

Kind Regards,
Peter Knight
